Consulting Actuary, Milliman

An influential figure in the actuarial world.

Danny sets the direction for Milliman’s Employee Benefits practice in Asia.

Danny’s consulting experience is in the design, implementation, valuation, and administration of defined benefit and defined contribution retirement programmes. He has experience with valuation, accounting disclosure, and administration requirements for a wide variety of retirement plans – having worked on both private and public sector plans, including several social security plans in the Middle East, Europe and South East Asia. Danny also has extensive experience in investment consulting, including setting asset allocation strategies, researching and monitoring fund managers and advising at board level.

Originally graduating in Mathematics from the University of Leeds, Danny first began consulting in Asia in 1989, based in Watson Wyatt’s Hong Kong office as a pensions actuary and investment consultant. In 1998, he became Watson Wyatt’s country manager in Malaysia, before taking the role of head of investment consulting in South East Asia (covering Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia). From 2006 to 2008, Danny was based in London, heading Mercer’s Global Investment Management Data distribution with responsibility for global sales. He also ran his own practice in the UK before joining Milliman in 2012.

Danny is well-respected within his field, and is a fellow of both the Singapore Actuarial Society and the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) in the UK – as well as member of the Retirement Sub-Committee of the former. An influential figure, Danny was also President of the Hong Kong Society of Actuaries and a member of Council of the Malaysian Actuarial Society. Danny has further used his actuarial expertise by acting as an assistant examiner, marking the IFoA exams in finance and investment and is a member of the Pensions Board of the IFoA.
