People issues are hugely important in the success of a merger or acquisition, and key talent plays a critical role after the transaction.
However, due diligence is often conducted in competitive and confidential contexts, when the information provided is limited and the timeframe compressed.
Milliman’s Radhika Philip and Danny Quant discuss how to approach three critical talent topics in the due diligence phase: assessing contractual obligations, identifying key high-performing talent, and designing retention and termination packages.

Danny’s consulting experience is in the design, implementation, valuation and administration of defined benefit and defined contribution retirement programmes. He has experience with valuation, accounting disclosure and administration requirements for a wide variety of retirement plans — having worked on both private and public sector plans, including several social security plans in the Middle East, Europe and South East Asia.
Danny also has extensive experience in investment consulting, including setting asset allocation strategies, researching and monitoring fund managers and advising at board level.
Danny is well-respected and influential within his field. He is a fellow of both the Singapore Actuarial Society and the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) in the UK — as well as member of the Retirement Sub-Committee of the former. Danny was also President of the Hong Kong Society of Actuaries and a member of Council of the Malaysian Actuarial Society.
